4/6/2023 0 Comments Call of cthulhu 7th edition![]() We don’t add “80”, the relevant stat, which would result in a “5” (normal success required). To take an example in the book, blocking a door forced by a cultist with SIZE 85 would require a hard roll for a character with SIZE 80. You just look at the actual opposing stat and decide if it’s “normal”, “hard” or “extreme” (less than 50, 50-89, 90-100, respectively). What I struggle with is that the rule stated elsewhere (see pages 82-83, for example) to decide whether a normal, hard or extreme success roll is needed d oes not imply a measure made by “adding the relevant stat” prior to making the determination. This also implies that if the STR of that character were 65, he could achieve it with a hard roll (65+100 = 165, a difference of 85 = hard roll) (see also combined efforts on that page). ![]() It would not be possible for a player with STR 40 to move it, because 40+100 is still under 150. The example given is a rock that would have Size 150. The rules state that a task that is above 100 plus the actual relevant stat is impossible for a single player. It is explained that when a player is confronted with a task that is beyond human capacities, he cannot achieve it. I have a question concerning the Call of Cthulhu 7th edition rules.ħth edition, page 88 is about human physical limitations. I am an avid reader of Lovecraft’s novels, a Professor of Literature (French) and a rather novice player of CoC RPG. Since I am new to these forums, I would quickly like to say that I am glad that I have discovered the site.
